Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
After having spent eight years refining their dance/rock/geek personae (Exhibit A: videos populated with dancing monks, boy bands with super powers, and all matter of absurdist imagery) Hot Chip are ready to be seen as more than the class clowns. Seriously.
Hot Chip makes retro-flavored tunes so crisp that it’s difficult not to view their music with a cynical over-the-shoulder glance. “Remember when people thought the world was round?” they ask on In Our Heads opening track “Motion Sickness,” inviting the listener into their particular brand of midtempo, mid ’80s booty shaking logic. Rational people of the world, will we stand for this out-and-out absurdity? (via FILTER Magazine - Reviews - Hot Chip)
